IT’S TIME TO RETHINK HOW WE THINK ABOUT CHANGE
Modern activism requires modern skills like empathy, curiosity, reparations, and boundaries. We have to be able to see things as they are, so we can clearly see where we are going. And we have to be 100% intersectional, at every turn, in every way we can, which means not only thinking about the intersections of various communities, but also pledging to own our own privilege and amplify rather than speak for.
and it means letting ourselves dream.
We know things are a mess. But we also know that focusing on the mess doesn’t change things.
At Marc O, we’re calling a reset and going back to the white board - clean slate - to figure out what we can do, today, to protect our humans and our planet.
And we are doing it by joyfully imaging new solutions to thes old problems.
As seen in
“The future is unwritten. And we, all of us, will be the authors of that future.”
- Joe Strummer, The Clash

I can still remember the first time I said that out loud…

Our
Manifesto
-
We believe we can only make a difference if we have our facts straight and can back them up.
#believescience
-
We work to amplify those facts in every way possible.
#amplifytruth
-
We promise to be inclusive in every decision we make, offering not to tell other people’s stories, but to help get them access to tell their own stories.
#ourownstories
-
We value overdelivering at every level, for the people we serve, the people we collaborate with, and for our members.
#overdeliver, then #takeabreak
We want our impact to be real and so much more than words. So we created strategies to act us our north stars. Then we labeled them as non-negotiables.
DROP-OUTS UNITE
We are dropping out of outdated activism and dropping into ourselves, our communities, our needs, and our beliefs
We’re planting flags and vegetables. We’re showing up for each other - as collaborators, as witness, and even as an emergency contact.
And in order to to do this, we are sharing everything we can about our success and challenges.
